The benefits of an Independent Rear Suspension include, better steering response, on-center feel, reduce lift and dive characteristics under hard acceleration and braking, and drive wheels that stay firmly planted during cornering. The engine in the SVT is hand-assembled with love at Romeo (Michigan) Engine Plant. Two person teams assemble the engines on a separate, dedicated line, and their final brush stoke is fastening a signature plate, inscribed with their names, onto the right can cover. Crank up the MACH 460 electronci AM/FM stereo and in-dash six-disc CD player or just listen to this pony roar, it's time to leave the pack behind, with distinctive style and handling.

The 2001 SVT Mustang Cobra made its debut with minor exterior and interior changes. Exterior changes included the return of "COBRA" to the rear fascia and the addition of 5 new exterior colors (True Bule, Zinc Yellow, Mineral Gray, Performance Red and Laser Red). The interior received all new seats with added support and a 6-disk in-dash CD player.
